UPDATE July 27, 2021:
The Canada Day virtual run raised over $2600 this year for the Brockville and Area Foodbank. The event was well supported by local media. We were hoping to top last year’s event but we still attracted 109 participants, many of whom are not members of the club. A special thank you goes out to Ed Eby for leading the organizing and with assuring media coverage; Murray Tait also ably assisted.
The BRRC executive are pleased to announce another special Canada Day event.following on the success of 2020.
The event is another Together Individually 1K/5K Run to be held on the national holiday, July 1. This is a fundraiser and community celebratory event, open to all, runners and walkers, young and old, club members and non-club members.
The concept, originally conceived in 2020 by executive member Ed Eby and approved again by the local health unit, is:
- At 10am July 1st step out your front door, turn left and run. The start and finish line being your front door.
- The key is that we all start our individual, Covid-complying run at 10 am on July 1 – Together Individually.
- You may choose to run or walk 1K or 5K, whichever suits your ability.
- No use of Garmins, or other tracking devices needed – there will be no monitoring of times or reporting of results as there would be in a virtual run.
Online registration, the only form available, is now open on Trackie. Your donation is your entry fee.
Proceeds will benefit the Brockville and Area Foodbank, they count on your generosity. Donations of $20 or more will qualify for a tax receipt.
We have a colorful commemorative bib number, designed by Ed Eby, for this event. Be sure to register early as we have a limited supply. The bib number is designed to be pinned to your own race day shirt.
