Brockville Canada Day

1K Fun Run and Open 5K

Second in-person since 2019
Race Director: Murray Tait
Total Participants: 116

Great to see this very special and longstanding event attract the numbers again. All out to celebrate in style Canada’s National Holiday. Well done and thanks to Murray Tait and his volunteer crew.

Among the many 5K participants it was very special to note a couple of former club presidents: John MacMillan (2013-2015 ) and Brian Gartley (2020-2023). Each is on a long term recovery: John from illness and Brian from a running injury. We wish them both well.

See the club  Facebook  page for lots of photos courtesy of exec member Charlene Thomas.

Kids (40) 1K

As in previous years, a great group of young people took to the trail and showed some impressive speed together with fine turnaround cone circling technique in many cases!

Kingston Canada Day

Limestone Mile dedicated to the memory of Brockville’s Kevin Dunbar

A notable feature of the men’s mile was the finishes of 2 Brockville natives.

Nathan Plant was first across the line in 4:36 with Travis Gaffney in third in a time of 4:37.

Nathan was the 2023 recipient of the Kevin Dunbar Memorial Scholarship and after the race the 2024 $2500 award was presented to Travis. Congrats!

Travis Gaffney (rt) Accepting the 2024 Scholarship Award.

Members of Kevin’s family attended and took part in the race.
