THEY’RE OFF!

The race season got off to a good start on Saturday January 25, 2025 with the first of the traditional series of 3 Freeze Your Buns 1K/5Ks.
Once again as she has done since 2008, Janet Wynands led her crew of volunteers in organizing this popular winter event.
Registration and check-in, in the Memorial Centre lobby, kept Barb Marshall busy keeping things moving smoothly along as she has done for a number of years now.

Conditions were typically wintery, which added to the event challenge. The competitors, 10 in the Kids 1K and 36 in the open 5K took t.o the course battling the cold wind with snow covered sidewalks.

A crew of volunteers also were in place at key intersections. Thanks to all who helped
The 1 km event was won by Margaux Coville for the second year in a row in a speedy 4:25:38. Lucas Nolan was the first boy in with a time of 6:30:46.
The 5 km event was won by Shane Curless in 17:59:46. The young Lilah Kinch was the first female in with a time of 22:05:16.

The second race of the series will be on Saturday February 22 and the final, based on the unavailability of the Memorial Centre in March, on Saturday April 6.
