A number of local runners, together with others with local ties, took part in the Nov 3 annual 10K Anniversary run hosted by the Kingston Road Runners.
Conditions were very good, with bright sun and comfortable temperatures, for the run from the Landings Golf Club (west of Kingston), around the Bayridge subdivision, returning to the start/finish area via a loop along by Lake Ontario.
The run was very well organized and featured a record number of participating runners. The event included a 1 mile race for kids 4-12.
As always, our runners performed very well including a number of medal finishes:
Runner | Time | Medallists |
---|---|---|
Kevin Beatty | 35:12 | 3rd Overall |
Jeff Nolan | 37:22 | 1st Age Catg; 7th Ovr; PR |
Emily Rienstra | 46:17 | 3rd Age Catg |
Shannon Wilson | 53:32 | 3rd Age Catg |
Fiona Dunbar | 54:26 | |
Margaret Story | 58:30 | |
Eithne Dunbar | 1:04:57 |
Great to see Brockville native Kevin Beatty is still an exceptional runner, with a 3rd place overall finish in a fast 35:12.
A special shout out also to Jeff Nolan for his performance in achieving an age category award and setting a PR of 37:22 for the 10K distance.
In addition to our medal winners, special mention goes to Eithne Dunbar for completing this year 11 successive Anniversary 10Ks (she ran the 2020 virtual 10K on the regular Landings course).
Typically close to, or even on, Eithne’s birthday of November 1, the run is known to family as Mom’s or Granny’s Anniversary Run. Where possible, family members travel to Kingston to run or cheer Eithne on.
Kudos also to Margaret Story who has completed a busy schedule of runs and is well placed in the KRRA race series standings.
