Past 5K Winners

A summary compiled originally by Rick Swift and subsequently added to, gives the men and women winners since 1993.

Brittany Alkerton was the female winner 3 times in recent years. The women’s course record of 18:12 was set by Emma Norman in 2006. Emma also achieved a trio of wins, winning in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

On the men’s side, Kevin Beatty has 3 wins, doubling up and winning the 21.1K also in 2000 and 2005 –  the famous Kevin Beatty Double-Double! The 5K TIP course record of 15:38 set in 2008 is held by Jacob Smith.

Photo is of Janet Wynands, winner of the women’s event in 2009 and again in 2010, striding to the finish in a race – one of our November Classics? – on the  northern section of the Brock Trail.

Past 21.1K Winners

A summary compiled originally by Rick Swift and subsequently added to, gives the men and women winners since the event’s inception in 1987. Unfortunately the results for 1987 and 1991 are missing from the archives. (Anybody have them in their personal records or scrapbook?)

As with the 5K, Paula Wiltse (7 wins) and Kevin Beatty (5 wins) share the  spotlight in terms of most wins.

Paula holds the women’s course record of 1:21:43, set in 2011. The men’s record was set in 2003 by Deng Kuol Marial with a time of 1:10.27.

Of course, we again acknowledge Kevin Beatty’s,  very special double-double where in 2000 and again in 2005, Kevin ran and won back-to-back 21.1K and 5Ks.

The pictures are of Kevin in full flight and in full kilt at a recent Perth Kilt Run.
Paula is seen racing home to the finish at a Sydenham Trail Run in 2017.
