Freeze Your Buns 2025
Congrats to Janet Wynands and to Barb Marshall and the rest of the crew on the successful conclusion of yet another Freeze Your Buns 3 race 1K/5K series. The first of the series was held in the winter of 1997 and Janet has been at the helm since 2008. Roger Hawksby also directed the series for several years in the interim. Thanks also to Shane Curless for producing the series’ commemorative shirts. As a recognition of 2025 being the 40th year of the Brockville Road Runners Club, Shane incorporated our original logo into the shirt design. The logo was hand drawn by Mark Darroch a founder member and second president of the club.
The Original!
Lilah Kinch was the female series winner in the 5 km with an average time over the 3 runs of 22:09. The men’s 5 km series winner was another tightly contested event with Shane Curless and Jeff Nolan battling it out over the 3 runs.
Jeff Nolan‘s average time over the 3 runs was 18:01.38 and Shane’s was a slightly slower 18:04.82.
Congrats to Lilah and Jeff.
Road Runners on the Road:
The weekend of April 26/27, 2025 was a busy one on the area road running scene.
There were varying distances of 5K, 10K and the marathon 42.2K to be raced, spread over venues in Merrickville, Kingston and Cornwall . As always, our club members and other local runners accepted the challenge and performed with distinction across the board.
Of special note was a fine Cornwall marathon run in 2:50:15 by club exec member Shane Curless.
